Join Fluid’s mission and help us make this vision turn into a reality.
Our goal is to be as proud and fluid as possible in everything we do going forward as we create and embody Fluid.
“Fluid is a café and event space in the Tenderloin centering the Trans, Non-Binary and Gender Nonconforming (TGNC) and queer communities. A business that is entirely owned and led by trans folks, we offer a space for people to gather, host events, and share a cup of coffee together.”
As our community organizes and fights for liberation, Fluid aims to be the place for people to relax, have something to eat and drink, showcase their art, and connect with others. We envision queer and trans people of all ages, backgrounds, and intersections as a part of the Fluid community. (Allies and co-conspirators in trans liberation are encouraged to join us and help us in creating a space for all!)
Owning our space ensures that what we create is by us yet for all. As time goes on, we hope to grow and evolve with the community to become a must-visit destination in San Francisco.

We Are On Stolen Land
Before we can begin any conversations on coffee, we must acknowledge the practice of cultivating and consuming coffee as we know it. We can trace its heritage back centuries to the ancient coffee forests on the Ethiopian plateau. It's through colonization and slavery that coffee became the beverage that we all know and love. At Fluid, we continue our dedication to acknowledging the effects of colonialism and slavery that resulted in the globalization of coffee. We continue our commitment to supporting our Black siblings and sourcing our resources from those dedicated to justice and equitable practices.
We must also recognize the land on which we gather is the traditional and unceded territory of the Ramaytush Ohlone (pronounced Rah-my-toosh O-lone-ee). This acknowledgment demonstrates a commitment to beginning the process of working to dismantle ongoing legacies of settler colonialism, and to recognize the hundreds of Indigenous Nations who continue to resist, live, and uphold their sacred relations across their lands. We also pay our respect to Indigenous elders past, present, and future and to those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
